～年間刑務所に服役した (do one's porridge for the years)

～年の刑を勤めた (served the years)
～年の刑に耐えた (survived the years)
～年間投獄されていた (imprisoned for as long as the years)
～年間務所暮らしだった (slang)
～年間ブタ箱に入っていた (slang)
・・・
～年間刑務所で苦しんだ sounds as if they were falsely accused.

porridge←辞書で調べた。。。こういう言い方を忘れました :o)
