The viewpoint being developed in this essay highlight still another facet of dominance and non-dominance as it relates to society and the culture it generates and sustains-----namely, the geopolitical aspect. The United States is not merely a territory with certain designated boundaries-----a geographical entity-----but is also a geopolitical configuration. It is a country whose history reflects the clear-cut interrelationship of geography, politics, economics, and the domination and control of people. For example, the westward movement and the subsequent takeover of indigenous people’s lands and chunks of Mexico were justified by this country' doctrine of Manifest Destiny, not unlike the way Hitler’s expansionism was justified by the Nazi doctrine of “geopolitic.” It is not accident that the doctrine of Manifest Destiny coincides with the rapid growth and development of U.S. industrialization. The U.S. power elite wanted more land in which to expand and grow economically, so it created a rationalization to secure it.
