訳の一部がわかりません。

Any teacher can take a child to the classroom,but not every teacher can make him learn.He will not work joyously unless he feels that liberty is his,whether he is busy or at rest;he must feel the flush of victory and the heart-sinking of disappointment before he takes with a will the tasks
distasteful to him and resolves to dance his way bravely through a dull routine of textbooks.
上の文で
前半のwhether he is busy or at restはどのように訳したらいいのですか。(heはchildですよね?)

それから、後半の文章なのですが、
beforeの後はheが主語でtakes the tasks distasteful to himと続くのだと思うのですが、and resolves to dance がどうつながるのか、文法と訳がわかりません。
教えてください。よろしくお願いします。

dance his way bravely through ～ の表現に皆さんてこずっているようですので、この点のみ補足させていただきます。

dance が「踊る、ダンスする」の意から「（喜びなどで）飛びまわる、跳ねまわる」の意で使われ、さらに「喜び勇んで～する」などの意味でも使われるようになります。

つまり、ここでは、前に出ている work joyously の言い換え表現になっています。

dance his way bravely through a dull routine of textbooks で「教科書の決まりきった退屈な課題などを喜んで・進んでどしどしやっていく」ぐらいの意味になると思います。

ちなみに、resolves to dance ～ の to不定詞は、「～することを決意する」と名詞的用法にとるのが普通でしょう。

そして、もちろん、resolves と三単現の s がついているので、and によって前の takes の部分とつながっているわけです。
before he
[takes with a will the tasks distasteful to him]
and
[resolves to dance ～ ]

言い忘れていました、下記の構文を訳す際のポイントは、

whether he is busy or at rest; he must feel the flush of victory and the heart-sinking of disappointment before he takes with a will the tasks distasteful to him and resolves to dance his way bravely through a dull routine of textbooks.

busy はセミコロン以降の文章で” the flush of victory”と ”resolves to dance his way bravely”を示し

a rest　が ”haert-breaking of disappointment”と” he takes with a will the tasks distateful to him ”を示します。

上記を理解したうえで
whether he is busy or at rest
を訳すと全体が締まった翻訳になるはずです。

難しい文章ですね、下記を叩き台にして訳してみたらどうでしょう。

「whether he is busy or at rest」は「そわそわしている時でも、静かにしている時でも」と言った感じです。

後半は、２つの文を主語（Ｈｅ）が同じなのでＡｎｄでつなげたと見てよいのではと思います。自分の意思でいやな事でも請け負い、つまらない、ありきたりの教科書を自分なりにこなすようになるにはと言うような意味だと思います。

逐語訳ではないですし、もう少し綺麗な日本語があるのではとも思いますが。

he resolves to dance his way bravely ...のresolve to danceですが、to は不定詞だと思うのですが、結果をあらわすのですか、それとも～するためにという目的ですか。
またdanceはここでは何と訳したらよいのでしょうか。
