昔から日本人は自然を大切にして暮らしてきたが、その自然が失われつつあるという事実を見過ごしているようだ。

For a very long time, people in Japan preserved their/our environmetnt, living close to nature, but today it seems to me that they/we are not aware of the fact that nature is being destroyed.

【採点のポイント】

日本人：Japanese people, the Japanese, people in Japan

大切にして暮らす：preserve nature, live/be close to nature

～のようだ：it seems (to me) that ...,

～という事実を見逃す：are not aware of the fact that ...

失われつつある：is being destroyed

For a very long time we Japanese people loved the nature, but today we are not aware of its deterioration.

いちおう訳しておきますが，短絡的で下劣な日本文ですね。
まあ，ど素人の英語教員が思いつきで作成したんでしょう。

For a very long time, we Japanese preserved much of nature, but we somehow are not aware of the fact that we are loosing it(nature).

大切にして暮らすが何を意味するのか分かりませんでしたが、後に「失う」と有りますので、「大切に思ってきた」ではなく「維持」「保存」してきたと考えました。
