困り度：

専門職系のアメリカ大学院（master of public health）に１年間の留学を考えています．大雑把な留学費用は様々な本や大学のweb siteでわかるのですが，家族４人での留学を考えており，英語がそれほど得意ではない妻と子供（未就園児が２人）がおり，セキュリティーがしっかりした住居やしっかり保障される健康保険への加入などを考えると１年間でどの程度の費用が必要か分かりません．
場所はハーバード大学，ノースカロライナ大学，コロンビア大学，UCLAあたりを検討していますが，実際にこれらの地域で家族連れで留学されている方がいらっしゃれば学費以外にかかる費用を教えていただければ幸いです．

Since the schools you mention are research one/top-tier universities in the US, it costs at least $35,000-40,000 per academic year. With current dollar/yen exchange rate (1$=77 yen), the expenses will be 2.7-3.1 million yen. Professional program usually costs more than normal academic/graduate program. So, you should have at least 3 million yen for academic program.

Plus, you will need $3,000-5,000 for your dependents (i.e., spouse and each kid). If you find the university housing for the family, you can save money for the rent, depending on local economy of the city you are in. Since health insurance is mandatory for international students, you and your family will be automatically required to enroll in the university health insurance (whichever may fit you). It ranges from $250-$350/per semester.

In all, it will likely cost $50,000-60,000, or 4-5 million yen for the plan of your study.

ハーバードだと，ボストン近郊になるので，セキュリティまで考えると，
１５～２０万円の家賃が必要でしょう。
ボストンの場合，自動車は不要だと思います（アメリカ生活を楽しむ
ということであれば必須）が，必要であれば，１００～２００万円程度
加算。
生活費としては，１ヶ月２０万円程度。
ですので最低限度５００万円は必要なのでは？
あとやはり遊んだりしたいのであれば別途５００万円の余裕もほしい
ところです。
