celebrateの現在分詞について

This is the festival celebrating the end of winter.（これは冬の終わりを祝う祭りです）

これは中三英語教科書に載っている例文です。
celebratingは現在分詞で the festival を修飾しているのですが、
ということは、the festival を主語にした

The festival celebrates the end of winter.

という無生物主語の文はOKでしょうか？

またinteresting（面白い）はinterest（～の興味を引く）の現在分詞だとしたら
This is a book interesting me.　（これは私の興味を引く本だ）　という文も問題ないでしょうか。

無生物をあたかも生物のように主語として使うケースはいろいろあります。

受け身にしたりするより簡潔で良いからです。

例文を挙げますと celebrate ですと例えば
The book celebrates the movies of the past.
Her lecture celebrated the genius of the artist.

interest なら
It might interest you to know that the woman in this photograph is your great-grandmother.
It interest me to learn that she had once lived in California.
Military history don't really interest me.
などです。

私がよく使うのは discuss です：
This book discusses society and culture in India over 200 years...
This chapter discusses wireless LAN (WLAN) technology…
This paper/article discusses different approaches to language acquisition…
This talk discusses research being undertaken at ...

で問題ありません。同じ構文を使うなら、

This book interests me.

となります。
