コンマによる省略

以下のようにcommaが省略のために使われたいくつかの例文と、以下を含めたそれらの文におけるcommaの使い方の解説を下さい。ご面倒であれば例文だけでも助かります。応用できるようになりたいです。

　これは 省略 ではなくて、「すなわち (that is)」 ということではないかと思います。

　"I found the time the train leaves: 3 pm.　という書き方も出来るかも。

　これもやはり that is という意味が入っているように読めます。コンマを打つ方が簡単なのでそうしているのだと思います。
