英文の本を読んでいて、訳がこれでいいのか分かりません。教えてください。
The UK is now a multicultural society; that is a society with a lot of different ethnic groups or peoples. Big changes in the population of Britain began in the 1950s, when large numbers of people from the West Indies like Jamaica and from the countries of the Indian sub-continent like India and Pakistan came to live in Britain. Now about 2.5 million Britons (4.5 per cent of the population as a whole) are made up of people who are not white, who belong to Britain's ethnic communities. Sometimes the members of Britain's ethnic communities are called "new Britons", but this description is less and less true, as over 40 per cent of the members of the ethnic communities were born in Britain, and the percentage is growing. この英文を自分なりに訳してみたんですけど、これでよろしいですか。

まず，最初の一文から。

The UK is now a multicultural society; that is a society with a lot of different ethnic groups or peoples.
確かに意味としては「現在、多くの異なる民族から成る多文化社会です。」なのですが，セミコロンはかなり大きな切れ目（カンマよりも大きいがピリオドを打つほどではない）なので，その前後で分けて訳したいところです。
「英国は今や多文化社会となった。多文化社会というのは，～のことである。」

Big changes in the population of Britain ～ came to live in Britain.
この部分はすでに出ていましたので省略します。

Now about 2.5 million Britons (4.5 per cent of the population as a whole) are made up of people who are not white, who belong to Britain's ethnic communities.
「白人でない人々から成っています」とは，簡単に言えば「非白人です」ということですね。
関係代名詞のwhoが2つありますが，どちらもpeopleにかかります。
もう少しすっきり訳してみると，「今や，英国人のうちの250万人（4.5％）が非白人で，英国のエスニック・コミュニティを形作っています」ぐらいかな。

Sometimes the members of Britain's ethnic communities are called "new Britons",
「時々、グレートブリテン島の民族社会の人々は新しい英国人と呼ばれています。」
「時々」は日本語としてちょっと変ですね。「しばしば」のほうがいいでしょう。

but this description is less and less true, as over 40 per cent of the members of the ethnic communities were born in Britain, and the percentage is growing.

最後に，翻訳ソフトに頼りすぎるのはやめましょうね。
