うーん、#1の方が示した例はちょっと違いますね。

how beautiful / an ordinary life is
であり、an ordinary life が主語で、
beautiful 一語で how と結びついています。

このパターンになるのはその4語だけです。

基本的にかための表現で、特に how はあまり見かけない気がします。

比較的多い so と合わせて4語とも覚えればいいです。

how では感嘆文でこのパターンが使えますが、
「どれくらい〜」でも使えますし、
その間接疑問でも使えます。

It shows how good a grade they got.
これは間接疑問とも、感嘆文が節化した（間接感嘆文なる言い方をすることも）とも考えられます。

そのことは、彼がどれほどいい成績を取ったかを示している。
（なんといい成績を取ったかを...）

同じように how を使うわけで、
日本語でも「いかに、どれほど」で
程度を尋ねるとも、程度の高さについて感嘆するとも言えるのと同じことです。
