a large amount of〜とlarge amounts of〜の違いが分かりません。教えてください。

こちらの #1 の方の回答のように、特に１つの額についても
large mounts of は使います。

多額の金額が引き出された回数は一回

Large amounts of money have been withdrawn from his account.
多額の金額が引き出された回数は複数回 = a large amount of money x 2 or more

I have a large amount of money in my bank account.
I have large amounts of money in my bank accounts. (各口座にそれぞれ多額の預金額)

A large amount of gold was found in the mountain. (一ヵ所で)
Large amounts of gold was found in the mountain (複数の場所で)

a lot of と lots of がともに「たくさんの～」で違いがないように、

この両者も特に大きな違いはありません。

of の後には普通、不可算名詞がくるわけですが、
amount については a(n) ... amount であり、amounts となっています。

前者は単数扱いで全体に、後者は複数扱いで個々に重きがある、と辞書にはあります。
