英語について質問です。
You had better not go outside
because it will be rain this afternoon.

You had better not go outside
because it will be rain in the afternoon.

上記に
2文の英文が書いてあります。前者が正解なのですが、後者は間違いですか？

日本語訳
『午後は雨が降るだろうから出かけない方が良い』の場合です。

"it will be rain"っていうのはおかしいですから、どっちも非文です。

正しくは "it will rain" (未来形)、或いは"it will be raining"(未来進行形)。
"This afternoon"と"in the afternoon"は次の様な違いが有ります。
this afternoon　＝（とくに今日の午後）
in the afternoon = （一般的に午後)
例１： I always get sleepy in the afternoon.
午後には何時も眠くなる。
例２：I will sleep this afternoon.
今日の午後は眠る。

because it will be raining in the afternoon.

これなら大丈夫かと
