「it is there構文」の"it is"の働き等について

I knew it was going to be an interesting lesson and it was there will be even more news coming out until the presidential election in November.

この文で、次のように"I knew"の目的語である「that節」が２つ続いています。

この２つ目の「that節」内は"it was"の後に完全な文である「there 構文」が続いています。なぜ"it was"が必要なのか、そしてその働きが理解できません。

②この"it was"の"it"が指すもの

多分ですけど、it is there 構文ではなくて、it isのところで文が一旦終わっているのではないでしょうか。

it is there …と続くのは、どうみても文法的におかしいです。

I knew it was going to be an interesting lesson
面白い授業になるだろうと知っていた。

and it was (an interesting lesson).
そして（実際に）そうだった（=面白授業だった）

it wasは無くてもよいと思います

日本語でも、「それはとても楽しいことになるだろうし、それは、ええ、そこで新しいニュースが」みたいな言い直しはしますからね
