I once had the pleasure of having this regular customer who was the most… grumpy nice person I had e
ver met. I know some older Scottish ladies can be eccentric, but even to this day, I can’t figure her out. At first, you’d be shocked at her attitude, but as you got used to it, you kinda… leaned into it.

A regular interaction would go like this.

Customer: *Paying at the end of a transaction* “And I suppose you’ll be wanting me to round up my total for charity or some crap like that?

合計の四捨五入、というか、up ですので繰り上げることです。

お釣りの出ないように繰り上げることで差額が生じます。お店側はその差額をチャリティーに寄付するようこの会話以前に何度かお願いをしたのではないのでしょうか。
例えば£3.20なら£4.00に繰り上げることで£0.80 の差額が生じますね。これを寄付するんですね。

ですが最後に
some crap like that
と言っているのでこの女性はこの習慣に嫌気がさしているんでしょうが、スコットランドの話ですので文句を言いつつも寄付をしたのかもしれませんね。

この場合の

round up total
「(勘定書の)合計金額を次の整数に切り上げる」という意味になります。
請求金額: $18.60 → Round up total → 支払 $19
故に
round up my total for charity
請求金額:$18.60 → You round up to $19 → $0.4が寄付金になる。

And I suppose you’ll be wanting me to round up my total for charity or some crap like that?
どうせまた、合計を切り上げて寄付しろとか、そんなくだらないことを言うんでしょ？
