メリーランド州についての説明の文なんですが、大変困ってます。

貿易は米国中西部と東部のどちらにも近いという立地を活かし、18世紀初頭よりボルチモアが貿易港として栄えてきた。現在でも、米国の半数の州やカナダの一部がボルチモアより輸出入を行っており、アメリカでもっとも大きい貿易港の一つ。1734年にブレアの町ができたのも、西側のルートをたどってボルチモアを攻撃しようとする原住民を阻止する“要塞”をつくるためだった。
　ローマ・カトリック教徒のジョージ・カルバートが、イギリスのチャールズ１世より土地の所有権を得て、息子セシルに植民地を建設させる。1634年に200名が植民地セント・メリーズに入植するが、植民地は権力や土地の所有をめぐって州議会やプロテスタントとの争いの場となり、ここに財政が苦しくなった本国イギリスの課税も加わって状況は悪化した。耐えきれなくなった入植者は独立を求めて立ち上がり、1775年にアメリカ独立戦争が勃発、1776年に見事独立を勝ち取る。
地形的に南北のほぼ中心であることから、1861年の南北戦争時にはメリーランド州の中で北と南に分かれて戦い、バーキッツヴィルも戦いの場となった。

George Calvert, a Catholic, acquires the ownership of land and makes son Cecil build a colony from Charles I of Britain.
Although 200 persons settled in colony st,mellys in 1634, the taxation of its native country Britain where the colony became the place of the argument with a state legislature or a Protestant involving possession of power or land, and finances became painful here was also added, and the situation got worse.
The settler it became impossible to be able to finish bearing stands up in quest of independence, and a U.S. war of independence will obtain outbreak in 1775, and will obtain brilliant independence in 1776.
Since north and south were a center mostly in geographical feature, at the time of the Civil War in 1861, it divided and fought in north and the south in the State of Maryland, and barkittsuvil also became the place of fighting.
