『この前の日曜日には、私は軽い風邪をひいていたので、家族と一緒に指宿（Ibusuki）に行くことができませんでした。』

『現代科学の発達が我々に幸福をもたらしてくれるかどうか、正確にはわからない。』

Since I had little cold last Sunday, I couldn't go to Ibusuki with my family.

It is uncertain that the development of current technology would bring us better life or not.

Last Sunday I couldn't go to Ibusuki with my family since I had a slight cold.

「軽い」風邪には、slight　を使います。

We can't tell exactly whether the developements in modern technology would bring us hapiness or not.

こんなところでしょうか、私なら。modern science でもいいような気もしますが。

Since I was catching slight cold last Sunday, it was not able to go to Ibusuki together with the family.

Development of modern science does not understand correctly whether you bring us happiness.
