マイナス値の増加

グラフの横軸が角度、縦軸がある値(XXXとします)で、その値が大きな角度で
マイナス値の増加を見せる特徴を持つ、という記載をしたいのですが、

of the XXX monotonously increases for larger angles.

という記載で意味がとれるでしょうか。

マイナス値の振幅が大きくなる、ということで

of the negative value of the XXX monotonously increases
for larger angles.
というのも考えたのですが、文章が長くなってしまい、理解しずらい
でしょうか。

上の書きたいグラフの様子を手書きしたものを添付いたします。

負の値が大きくなる（the negative value increases）という言い方はあるのですが、一抹の不安があるかも知れませんね。

図では正から負へと変わっていますから。

負の方向に増加する意味をはっきりさせるには "negatively increase" (increae は動詞) などが基本的な言い回しになると思います。やや長たらしい？ですが "increases in the negative direction" "increases toward negative direction" "goes into the negative direction" などがあります。

例えば The red curve in Fig. 1 shows that XXX monotonously moves in the negative direction with increasing angle. でしょうか。moves の代わりに shifts, goes なども使えます。

「負になる」ということよりも「負の値が増加する」ということが、
書こうとしている文章の骨子になっています。

「負の値（遺産やエネルギー等）の増加」という事実を強調しなくても良ければ、

Fig.1 shows　（または As is shown in Fig. 1) the value XXX decreases monotonously with increasing angle
and becomes negative in large angle regionでも良いかと思います。
何か「負・・・」を強調しなければならないような事情がお有りですか。

その文でも通じるとは思いますが、日英の場合、直訳にこだわらず、余分な単語を思い切って削っちゃえばいかがですか。

マイナスであるのは見たら明らかなわけですし。

私のレベルで簡単に言うと

The graph illustrates that XXX decrease(s) almost in proportion to the angle, as the red line moves towards/into the negative direction/territory/area.

しかし、グラフの説明は難易度が高いので専門家に聞いてみると、

みたいに言えそうです。

negative value increases より value increases in negative のほうがいいように感じます。
curve は line のほうがいいと思います。

value increases in negativeが参考になりました。

curveとlineの記載ですが、昔lineにしていて英語校正サービスに
出したところ、curveに訂正されました。添付の図からはわかり
にくく申し訳ないですが曲線となっており、曲線の場合はcurve
を使うように、との校正指摘でした。
