「首をかしげる」を英語で

こんにちは。今更というか、英語の必要性が叫ばれていますが、日本人は英語を過大評価している向きもあるのではないでしょうか？
さて、英語の必要性についての質問からの引用です。英語が出来る大きなメリットは5つあるようですが、疑問点もあるようです。今回はそのうちの4番目を取り上げます。

(4)情報の選択肢が広くなる・・・現代のようにネットが普及した社会では ますます英語も活用のチャンスが増えています。ですから、英語が分かれば情報の選択肢の幅もぐーんと広がるのも確かですが、日本語でだってありとあらゆる情報が得られるので、英語でしか得られない情報って何なのかと聞かれても一瞬首を傾げます。

opportinity of making use of English in this present-day society where the Net has been generalized. Therefore the knowledge of English allows you to enjoy much more wider choice of information indeed. But you can get all kinds of information
as well through Japanese. So I consider for an instant if I was asked what is the information that can be got only through English.

ここでいくつか疑問点があります。

(1)選択肢の「肢」はどう訳したらいいでしょうか？ ここでは無視して
「選択肢」をchoiceと訳しましたが。

(2)「首を傾げる」は英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？ 文字通りに lean my headでは通じませんよね。ここでは単にconsiderを使いましたが、これではキチンと訳しているとは言えず、取り合えず知っている単語でしのいでいるだけですよね。

(3)２番目の文は「ですから・・・ですが・・・ので ・・・・」というように少し込み入った複文ですが、英語でも一文にまとめることはできないでしょうか？

以上３点です。それ以外にもお気づきの点がありましたら、ご指摘お願いします。また、合わせて日本語の原文に対する意見も歓迎いたします。

一・二番です、、

「If so I find it just doubtful that you can get any useful information only when you have good command of English.」

の部分を大胆且つ細心に修正します。　

If this is the case, I can not simply/easily accept that all the useful information is available only when you have fairly good command of English in hand.

(1)choices でいいとおもいます。

(2)ponder for a moment ぐらいでしょう。

(3)原文の日本語の前半は重複が多いですね。まとめちゃっていいとおもいます。

わたしのしょぼい英文を参考に載せておきます。
A wider range of choices... Now you have more and more opportunities to use your English skills in today's Internet society. It's true that your knowledge of English allows you to have wider range of information. However, there seems nothing you cannot get only by using Japanese language, and if you asked what is it that you cannot get without your English skill, (I bet) you might ponder for a moment.

なるほど、 選択肢は range of informationで表現できるんですね。

一番です、余りに出来が悪いので自分で推敲する気も起きませんのでこのまま放置します。

You can have wider sources of information. At this Internet society in which you can make quick and easy access to English-written information, your acquired English ability is fully exerted. However, you can more easily access the domestic web sites where same-leveled information is available in Japanese. If so I find it just doubtful that you can get any useful information only when you have good command of English.


でも、一応、一瞬のひらめき(馬から落ちて落馬するみたいだな、こりゃ)で「find it doubtful」と云ってしまったので(泣)、最後だけ書き換えました(大泣)

(2)「首を傾げる」は英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？ 文字通りに lean my headでは通じませんよね。ここでは単にconsiderを使いましたが、これではキチンと訳しているとは言えず、取り合えず知っている単語でしのいでいるだけですよね。

(2)　I find it doubtful………….位で済ませると思います。

(3)２番目の文は「ですから・・・ですが・・・ので ・・・・」というように少し込み入った複文ですが、英語でも一文にまとめることはできないでしょうか、、、、

成る可く平易な単語と文法で書くことをお奨めします。

選択肢って多ければ多いほどいいというわけではないようですね。
人間って選択肢が多過ぎると逆に何も選べなくなることも少なくないようです。
