英語の問題

どうしても分からない英文法の問題があります。

間違いを直す
(1)The climate in Philippines is warmer than in Japan.
(2)have you ever seen a map of America?
(3)His visit to the Philippines turned to be a real education.

Ifを使う
(4)He returned because he had to attend classes.

(1)～(3)はどこが間違いなのかさっぱり分からないです＞＜

間違いを直す

(1)The climate in Philippines is warmer than in Japan.
----The climate in the Philippines is warmer than in Japan.
(2)have you ever seen a map of America?
have を Have とする以外は間違っていないと思います。a は the に変えません。
(3)His visit to the Philippines turned to be a real education.
----His visit to the Philippines turned out to be a real education.
Ifを使う
(4)He returned because he had to attend classes.
----He would not return if it had not been for classes.

すみません，

the Philippines Islands じゃなく，
the Phillipine Islands でした。

the Philippines で「フィリピン諸島」あるいは「フィリピン」の意味です。

1)

It is warmer in the Philippines than (it is) in Japan.
この場合は than in Japan とできますが，
今回は the climate in the Philippines と the climate in Japan という
名詞同志の比較なので，the climate in Japan の意味で that in Japan，あるいは
the one in Japan とする必要があります。

あと，細かいですが，もともとフィリピンは the Phillipines Islands ですので，
the が必要です（the United States と同じ）

(2)have → Have
これは冗談だとして，特に間違いはないと思います。
a map of America でいいです。
英和活用大辞典にも a map of China とありますし，
それほど限定性は強くないと思います。
the でもいいですが，a のままでもいいです。

(3)
turn out (to be) 補語で「結局～だとわかる」という意味です。

(4)
「授業に出ないといけなかったので，彼は帰った」
→「もし，授業に出なくてもよかったら，彼は帰らなかったのに」
He wouldn't have returned if he hadn't had to attend classes.
かなり無理な英語です。

1) - 「フィリピンの気候は日本の気候より暖かい」ですから、厳密には [the climate] in Philippines is warmer than [the climate] in Japan となるところですが、ここでは二つ目の the climate を "that" で代用しています。
2) - アメリカの地図ですから、内容も一定です。従って定冠詞 "the" を使います。
3) - 単純に、"it turned out to be" の用法を使用しているだけです。 http://eow.alc.co.jp/turn+out+to+be/UTF-8/

4) He returned if only to attend classes.
　 - ちょっとこれは合っているかどうか自信がありません。
