天気予報の英語を添削してくださいませんか。

天気予報の文を英訳してみました。意味は通じると
思いますが、なんとなく英語として不自然な気がします。どなたか、英語に自信のある方、英語らしい表現に直していただけますか？



明日明け方までの東海地方と北陸地方の天気予報です。全国的に主として寒いでしょう。南部では 日中晴れで
すが、北部では かなり曇り空で時折雨が降るかもしれないでしょう。西部では 1日中 断続的に雨が降るでしょう 。
気温は 摂氏5℃くらいでしょう。日曜日の予報です。ほとんどの地域では午後 さらに日が差します。

Here is the moteorological predictions for Tokai and Hokuriku until the first hours of tomorrow morning.
Major part of the country will have a mainly cold weather. The sky will be clear during the day in the South,
although fairly cloudy in the North, with the possibilities of rain at times and scattered showers throughout the day in the West. The temperatures will be situated around 40°Fahrenheit, that is to say 5°Celcius. The predictions
for Sunday: much brighter sky with sunny periods in the most of region for the afternoon.

天気予報はweather reportと言ってしまいますので、Here is our weathe report for Tokai and Hokuriku areas/regeons upto early tomorrow morning.

I will be basically cold throught the majority part of the nation.

南部では 日中晴れですが、北部では かなり曇り空で時折雨が降るかもしれないでしょう。西部では 1日中 断続的に雨が降るでしょう 。

The sky will be clear during the day in the South, although fairly cloudy in the North, with the possibilities of rain at times and scattered showers throughout the day in the West.

いいですね. clearをsunnyに変えてもいいですね..

＞気温は 摂氏5℃くらいでしょう。
The temperatures will be situated around 40°Fahrenheit, that is to say 5°Celcius.

これもいいですがsituatedを取ってしまいましょう.　そして、40°Fahrenheit, or 5°Celciusとしてしまっていいと思います.

日曜日の予報です。ほとんどの地域では午後 さらに日が差します。
The predictions
for Sunday: much brighter sky with sunny periods in the most of region for the afternoon.

少し変えて、

Now, here is for Sunday. We will have much brighter/sunnier sky in the afternoon in the most of the regions.

と言う事で、そんなに変える必要はなかったですね.

英語で難しいことの一つに 度量衡と温度があります。
ヤード・ポンド法は 日本ではパソコンやテレビのモニターのサイズでぐらいでしか使いませんよね。ですから 5フィートと言われるよりも 150センチくらいと言われた方がピンと来ますし、温度もFahrenhaitは いまいち馴染みがありません。イギリスでは2つが平行して使われているようですが、アメリカでは 度量衡は ヤード・ポンド法で 温度は華氏が主流ですよね。アメリカで メートル法と華氏は どのくらい通用するのでしょうか？私の場合 ニュージーランドに友人がいるのですが、ニュージーランドだと メートル法に華氏が一般的なようです。

Thank you for your answer.

This original text is French. I have substituted
only the names of regions. I tranlated French text in English word for word. So you may feel my English translation is not a typiacal bad translation by Japanese. But English common expression is subtly different from French one.
I sometimes trace French turns of phrase, and the cotrary cases can happen.

Gさんの添削でほぼOKだと思います。

アメリカでの天気予報では、weather reportよりもweather forecastのほうが一般的のように思います。また、possibilities of rainよりもchance of rainと言うほうがぴったし来るのでは？　また、より日差しが…　というのは、We will have more sunshine... とも言えます。
