it may cause much discussion.


When we have a discussion about the subject,
it may cause a lot of controversy.


I'm afraid that it may provoke much discussion
in case this topic is taken up at the next meeting.

よく英字新聞などで「論争になる」とか「物議を醸す」という言い方に controversy というのを見かけます。

When we discuss this issue next meeting,it may cause much controversy.

などはいかがでしょうか？

私なら、

When I bring this up at the next meeting, it will cause a fuss.

とか言うでしょうね。
