　it は仮主語で、真主語はto climb。for us to climb「我々が登ること」。

2. He bought a ford instead of a nissan.
　a ford 「フォード社の製品（自動車）」。a nissanも同様。

　whether to ― or to ～「―すべきかそれとも～すべきか」。
