前半の授業は・・・はthe former part of the lessonで良いでしょうか？

英会話のプライベートレッスンを今受けています。でも、そのときそのとき、私の希望を聞いてくれるので、
１・今日は前半の授業は文法をやって、そのあとは（先生と）会話（というか、ただのおしゃべり）がしたいです。
　
といいたいとき、
I want to study grammar at the former part of this lesson,after that I just have a conversation with you.

で通じるでしょうか。
あと、レッスンは４０分なので、
最初の２０分は文法の勉強をやって、後半の２０分は会話をしたい・・・

と言いたい時にはどのように言えば良いでしょうか。教えてください。お願いいたします。

私は、前半(FIRST HALF)と後半(LATTER HALF)を使います。

Today I want to study grammer and have a conversation time,too.
So I think for the first 20 minutes I should like to study grammer,
and then have a conversation time for the rest of the lesson.

もちろん、それで十分に通じます。

が、もっと洗練しますと

I'd like to study grammar in the first half of the lesson, and enjoy a free conversation with you in the second half.

I'd like to study grammar for the first twenty minutes, and enjoy a free conversation with you for the rest of the lesson.

#1のかたのおっしゃるとおりで

前半はfirst half
後半はsecond halfといいます

したがって
I want to study grammar in the fisrt half of the lesson, and have a conversation exercise in the second half.

などで通じると思います。
