oftenやsometimesの入る位置について

oftenやsometimesなどの頻度を表す副詞は文の中のどの位置に置くべきですか？？

何かルールはありますか？？

私の手元にあるEnglish Usageには下記のように置き場所の既定があります。

1.often
・助動詞がない場合は、be動詞以外の動詞の前に置く。
＜例文＞The often tell you what they want to believe.
・be動詞の場合はその後に置く。
＜例文＞They were often hungry.
・助動詞がひとつの場合はその後に置く。
＜例文＞He had often pointed this out to Lucy.
・助動詞がひとつ以上ある場合は最初の助動詞の後に置く。
＜例文＞It's a word you must often have come across.
・文がすごく短い場合、文の最後に置いても良い。
＜例文＞He's in London often.
・書き言葉の場合は長い文章の一番最初に置く事もある。
＜例文＞Often in the evening the little girl would be clutching at my knees while I held the baby up on my shoulder.

2.sometimes
特に厳密な記述はなし。ただし文の最後に置くのはsometime（いつか、ある時、そのうち）とconfuseするのでマレ。
