次の東大の英文の大意は参考書に載って居るのですが、大意は飽くまで大意で有って、分かり難かったです。
沢山の日本語を使って、以下の英文を訳して貰えませんでしょうか？

We all agree that the aim of education is to fit the child for life；however, there are as many opinions as to how that fitting is to be done as there are men to hold them.For example,fully half of our teachers cannot see that imagination is the root of all civilization. Like love, imagination may very
fairly be said to ‘make the world go round,’ but, as it works out of sight, it is given very
little credit for what it performs. （東大）

　「私たちは誰でも、教育の目的は子供を (社会) 生活に適応させることだということに同意する」

　* as many as ... は 「・・・ と同数」 という意味。ただし、2番目の as は as to ... という表現のための as で、as many as ... という表現のための as ではないです。as が３つ出ていますが、1番目と3番目で as many A as B という表現になっています。

　　there are as many opinions (as to how that fitting is to be done) as [there are men to hold them]

　ひとまず ( ) の中は無視して読んでみます。

　　→ there are as many opinions as there are men to hold them
　　 (人がそれら (opinions) を抱く、それだけの数と同じだけの opinions がある)

　そうしておいて、問題の部分を見てみる。

　　opinions as to how that fitting is to be done
　　(その適応がどのように行われるかということについての考え方)

　これで、文の全体が把握できるたので、まとめてみると

　「しかしながら、どのようにそれらの適応がなされるのかについては、その人その人によって、それぞれの考え方がある」

　* fully half of ... などというあたりで惑わされないこと。fully は無視するくらいのつもりで読んでも構わないと思います。half of our teachers を強調しているような感じでしかありませんから。訳すとすると 「丸々半数の教師たち」 くらいかも。

　「たとえば、少なくとも教師と名のつく人たちのうちの半数は、想像力が文明の基礎であるということが分かっていない」

　* 前半と後半に分かれています。前半の構造は A is said B (A は B といわれている) というもので、fairly のような語の意味を考えるよりも、構造をまず見ることが大事です。

　* 後半の構造は、as A, B (A であるから、B である) という単純なもの。

　* 前半の very fairly の部分は目障りだから、初めは無視して意味を取ってもいいと思います。imagination may be said ... (想像力は ・・・ といわれるかもしれない) のように。仮に very fairly の部分を抜かして訳したにしろ、文の内容を把握できていることの方が大きなポイントになります。

　* 後半の out of sight は 「目で見えない」 ということを表す表現。「見えない」 としてもいい。

　* it is given very little credit for ... は it gives very little credit for ... (・・・ に名誉を与える) という文を受身にした形。「名誉を与える」 とは 「評価する」 ことでもある。

　* for what it performs の it は imagination のこと。perform は日本語でも 「パフォーマンス」 という語があるように 「演じる」 ことだが、ある役目を果たすという意味合いでもある。

　「愛がそうであるように、想像力が "世界を動かしている" といってもおかしくない。しかし、想像力を目で見ることが出来ないために、それ (想像力) が果たしていることに対して、非常にわずかな評価しか与えられていないのだ」

　我々すべてが、教育とは子供を一生暮らせるように躾けることだと言う点で意見を同じくしている。

しかし躾を受ける本人が多種多様であると同様、躾の方法にも色々な意見がある。

　例えば、我々の教師の半分以上は、想像力があらゆる文明の根源であると言う点を見ることが出来ない。

　愛と同様、想像力は「世界を動かす」とは、うまく言い当てていると言える、しかし、（想像力とは）目に見えないところで働くので、その実際の役割は、多くの場合それほど認められてはいない。
