構文が上手く把握できない

"historical facts" and "values ." The trouble is that values even enter into deciding 

what count as facts ―there is a big leap involved in moving from "raw date" to a

possible it is to sustain a fact-value division.]

本来、文修飾的な副詞ですが、importantly を用いず、
more important, とします。

one finds that ～「～ということを人はわかる」
one は人一般、that 節が find の目的語。

その that 節内で、the 比較級, the 比較級で「～すればするほど～」というおなじみの表現。
ただ、前半の「～すればするほど」が A and B と２つになっています。

そして、the less possible it is to sustain a fact-value division が後の the 比較級です。

「さらに重要なことだが、～」というのを「さらに重要なのは～ということだ」と訳しています。
