uponとonの違い、私の解釈合ってますか？

month security deposit due upon signing of there lease.
uponはonとほぼ同じ意味だが、
uponは動作を強調するときに使い、onは状態を強調するときに使う。
だからdue upon signing のようになっていると解釈でよろしいでしょうか？
また、onが副詞で使われてるの具体例教えて欲しいです。

」は、おっしゃる通りです。

しかし、この場合は　Onは口語的、Uponは多少文語的に響くため、契約書としてUponを使うのが
普通です。通常文だとOnで十分です。（Dueも少し契約書的です）

Onの副詞使用は以下です。
　The race is on.
I have a hat on.
Go on.
Switch on.

I had a look to see what I could find in reference sources about this - I don't think I use "upon" very often, except in "Once upon a time....".

According to the Oxford version of Modern English Usage the use of on or upon is very much a matter of individual choice on grounds of rhythm, emphasis etc; or of simple accident. Some examples are given where one or the other has become "normal":

row upon row of seats;
once upon a time;
on no account;
on good authority;
... and place names ...
Newcastle-upon-Tyne;
Henley-on-Thames.

In general use, I agree with GenJen - upon seems more formal.

PS - look down to the "Similar Threads" section of this thread's display.

I was wondering the difference between over and these two last words, on and upon. Because they all have the same meaning in French translation but the usage seems to be different in English.
