(笑)　　一応技術説明通信文書として訳しました。これが完璧に「技術文書」となるともっともっと素っ気ない書き方になるかとも思います。その際は補足でお知らせ下さい。


低炭素鋼(low carbon steels)は炭素の量が増えることで強度(strength)が増す。表面の炭素の量を増やす方法としてcarburizingなどがある。

Through carburizing process, low carbon steel is reinforced in its physical strength [against tensile strength] or [elongation] as a result of added carbon on its surface.

(2)
As a result of increased carbon on its surface after treated by the carburizing process, low carbon steel is strengthened in its physical property [against tensile strength] or [elongation],,,その他「何々の特性に置いて」があると完璧な文になります。

技術文書的な「味も素っ気もない」(笑)書き方の一例です。

One of the techinical ways to reinforce low carbon steel is
carburizing process, by which carbon is added on its surface
[for enhancement].



直訳:低炭素鋼を強化する方法の一つは「浸炭法」です、この方法により低炭素鋼の表面に炭素が増加します。
意訳: 低炭素鋼を強化する方法の一つとして表面に炭素量を増やすことで強化を計る「浸炭法」があります。


備考:最後の[for enhancement]は蛇足ですね。削除しても十分意味は通ります。

別の書き方。

One of the techinical ways to reinforce low carbon steel is
carburizing process, by which enhancing carbon is added on its
surface.
