'content' は「内容」という意味でしょう。
'intellectual content' は「言葉から理解した会話の内容」を
意味しているものと思います。

'ebb and flow' で「潮の満ち干」という意味です。
'the basic ebb and flow of relating in a human context' は、
「人の心理状況に関連した基本的な身体の動きや静止」と
いった意味だと思います。

ここでは言葉で理解される 'intellectual content' と身体に現れる
'the basic ebb and flow of relating in a human context' が、
対義的関係になっているものと思います。

Though we often are aware only of "intellectual content" when we communicate, it is also important to understand the basic ebb and flow of relating in a human context the transmission of sometimes contractly messages through bodily posture and touch, voice tone, facial expression, and eye contact.

"contract" の意味が２つあるので、いまいち訳せません。あと、"flow of relatng" も日本語がわかりません。度々すみませぬ。m(_ _m

物質的な蓄積と成長を尊ぶ現代に置いてでも、男とは、本質的に、物質的な欲望と精神的な欲求の根底にある世界を分けて考えることが出来る。
