仮定法過去の省略について

の部分を省略された仮定文として

もし彼女が2年生を教えていたら

と訳すことは出来ますか？
倒置なしでも仮定法過去のif省略はありうるのでしょうか。教えてください。

彼女は学校で２年生を教えていたが、（もし彼女がそのまま２年生を教えていたら）Jaceyと私が彼女の生徒になるはずだった年に３年生の担当に変わった。

ご質問の趣旨が今ひとつ分かっていないのですが、括弧のところは“she taught second grade at the school”とダブっており、言わなくても意味は分かるから、繰返しは避けていると言うことだと思います。
