AlmostとMost of theの違いを教えて下さい。

almost は副詞で「ほとんど」という意味。

動詞や形容詞・副詞を修飾。
「ほとんどの生徒」で almost (the) students とは言えない。
「の」の意味が出ないからです。
all か every をはさんで
almost all (the) students, almost every student
「ほとんどすべての生徒」→「ほとんどの生徒」は可。

most ＋複数で「たいていの～」
most students で「たいていの生徒」
most of the students で「その生徒たちの大部分」

文法的に
almost all (the) students
most students
most of the students
が可能。

almost (the) students
most the students
most of students
はいずれも誤り。

一般はalmostは副詞として、most of the XXは１つの名詞として使う。

i almost failed the paper.ぎりぎり、かろうじての意味
Most of the student from my class failed that paper.ほとんどの意味。
