will か would か？

以下の問いはある高校入試の英語にあった問題の一部です。与えられた正答は選択肢「イ」でしたが、私は選択肢イの英文の後半にあるwouldはwillとすべきであったのではないかと考えます。いかがでしょうか？

次の文章はTim が家族に送ったＥメールの内容である。
Dear Mom and Dad,
Yesterday I climbed a mountain with a friend, Mikio. The weather was fine, and the air was *crisp. The view from the top was very beautiful. And I was impressed by beautiful falls, big trees, and the clear water of a lake.
When we got back to a bus stop, we had to wait for the next bus for one hour. There were only a few houses near it. While we were waiting, an old woman came up to us with two cups of green tea. The tea was very delicious. We enjoyed talking with her until the bus came. She was very *caring. That made me happy, and I will never forget that.
I think being rich in beautiful nature is a good thing about Japan. I want you to know that. I hope *sometime both of you will enjoy its rich nature and talk with Japanese people.

このＥメールの内容と合っているのは次のうちではどれか。
ア Tim wants Mikio to enjoy the beautiful nature of Japan and to talk with Japanese people.

ウ Tim was happy to get to the top of the mountain and was impressed by the rock.
エ Tim talked with an old woman near the bus stop, and he gave her some tea.

＜補足＞
作問者は「内容と合っている」かどうかを判断する際の時の基準を、大きくとらえるとＥメール内で述 べたI thinkやI want、I hopeと同じ時として考えていることが、選択肢アを現在時制としていることからわかります。そうすると本文内第２段落最後の文がThat made me happy, and I will never forget that. となっているわけですから選択肢イの後半もhe will never forgetが自然ではないかとおもうわけです。
現状の選択肢イがwouldのままではTimが「忘れない」と思ったのは、あくまで老女に親切にされた時のことということになり、少なくともＥメール内で述べたI thinkやI want、I hopeと同じ時、つまり「内容と合っている」かどうかを判断する際の時（＝現在）の気持ちには触れない（いやむしろ今は違う、ということを含意する）ということになってしまうように思うのです。

ご存知だとは思いますが、通常こういう内容一致問題では

人称も登場人物の立場に立たず、客観的な第三者の立場とし
時間も内容に出てくる時間でなく、本文を読んでいる時間、やはり客観的な時間というのが普通です。

そういう意味では選択肢アがおかしいということが言えます。
内容的にも論外なわけで、誤りの選択肢だから無視していいというものでもありません。

しかし、親切にしてくれた時点
手紙を書いている、本文上の今
問題として読んでいる客観上の今
という時間の流れで本文上の今を過去として書いたものとして自然に受け止められます。
特に手紙を書いている時点でもう思っていないとは感じません。

それも通常の客観的な時間で自然と読んでいるからで、
アの選択肢は無視していいと思います。
アの書き方が特殊です。
