Kenji：If we don't have zoos, we won't have a chance to see unusual animals.

Mari：Is that really true? Today we have TV, movies, and videos. There are many ways to see animals living natural lives.

Keiko：But children won't have a chance to make friends with them.

Makoto：Have you ever seen tigers in a cage? How do they spend their days? They're always pacing up and down. They look very unhappy. Do you think they want to be friends with children? And children aren't happy to see such miserable animals.

健二：もし動物園がなかったら、珍しい動物を見る機会がないだろう。
真理：それ本当？テレビもあるし、ビデオもある。野生で暮らす動物をみる方法は沢山ある。
恵子：でも子供たちは動物と触れあって親しくなる機会がないだろう。
誠：檻の中の虎をみたことないの？　どんな暮らしをしていた？ いつも行ったり来たりウロウロ歩いている。とても不幸せに見える。そんな虎が子供たちと友達になりたいと思ってるとでも思うの？それに子供にとってもそんな惨めな虎をみるのは幸せとは思えない。
