air-conditioning tank

ある文中でthe air-conditioning tanksという固有名詞にぶつかったのですが、どういう物かご存知のかたいますでしょうか？　自分の調べでは「氷蓄熱タンク」あるいはただ単に「エアコンの室外機」なのかと考えているのですが、どうもしっくりきません。

前後には街角で見かける「殺伐とした風景」がいくつか例示されているのみです。たとえば、「人のいない舞台」とか「からまった電気コード」とか「都会の人ごみ」とかです。
