thatとwithの意味・用法が理解できないのでこちらで質問させていただきます

１、thatの意味・用法
It is at these times ☆that I realize he is indeed a professor,not an uncle.

１、I'm surprised ☆that your wife should object.
２、It was because she was ill ☆that she didn't come to the party.
３、Do you think it odd ☆that I should live alone?
４、It is a good idea ☆that you study French now.

わたしはこの回答を４にしました。正解は２でした。
この問題はほとんどわからなかったので特に教えていただきたいです。


２、withの意味・用法
He talks instead og chewing,laughs ☆with his mouth open,
delivers a passionate thought throgh a mouthful of egg salada,...

１、I saw Bob in town ☆with his girlfriend.
２、Jack beamed ☆with pleasure when he heard the news.
３、You cannot cut this ☆with such a dull knife.
４、They began to work ☆with sleeves rolled up.

このwithは付帯状況のwithだと思って２か４で迷い、４にしました。
正解は４でしたが、なぜ４なのかがわかりませんでした…。


ちなみに関西外国語大学の過去問からです。解説がなくて答えだけ載っていたので
自力で考えてみたのですがこの２問がどうしても理解できません…。

まず問題を確認させてください。

「最初の例文の☆のついた単語と同じ働きを
している☆のついた単語は、下記のうちのどの文か」といったものですね。
これ、１と２では働きが異なるので難しいですね。

１（最初の例文）
It is at these times ☆that I realize he is indeed a professor,not an uncle.
文全体の主語、動詞などを文型に即して考えると

S（It）　V(is）　前置詞をともなった状況補語(at these times).
で、that以下は、要するにS(it)を言い直しているわけです。
S（That I ... uncle)　V(is)　前置詞をともなった状況補語(at these times).
ですが、主語が重たくなるのをきらって、It that 構文にしている。

で、次に各文を分析しますが、2が同じ、「Sの代用のthat」ですね。

１、I'm surprised ☆that your wife should object.
　　S(I) V(am) C(surprised) で、　that以下は、SVCにからまない状況説明

２、It was because she was ill ☆that she didn't come to the party.
　　S(It)　V(was)　接続詞をともなった状況補語(because ... party)
で、that...はS(it)の言い換え

３、Do you think it odd ☆that I should live alone?
　　疑問文なので、冒頭のDoは除いて、You think it odd ☆that I should live alone.　で考えます。
　　S（You) V（think)　O(it) C(odd)で、 thatはO(it)の言い換えのit that構文。

４、It is a good idea ☆that you study French now.
　　S(It) V(is)　C(a good idea)で　that以下はC(idea)の具体化。

次に、ogはofですね、よって
２、（最初の例文）He talks instead of chewing,laughs ☆with his mouth open,
delivers a passionate thought throgh a mouthful of egg salada,...
これは、withの後だけを見ます。
with　(that his mouth is open)といった意味、つまり、withの後の名詞mouthに
対してopenが補語的についているのです。

で、次にwithの後だけ（で、withを先頭とする修飾要素）を見ていきます。

１、☆with his girlfriend.

２、☆with pleasure

３、☆with such a dull knife.

４、☆with sleeves rolled up.
　
　こう見れば、最後だけが、that sleeves are rolled upの形であることが分かりますね。

他の方もお書きの通り、問題文は強調構文です。で、選択肢の中で強調構文なのは2ですので、正解は2ということになります。

その他の文のthatを説明しますと：
１、I'm surprised ☆that your wife should object.
「be＋形容詞＋that節」の形の文ですね。sure, proud, sad, glad などの形容詞がこれに当てはまります。

３、Do you think it odd ☆that I should live alone?
that節は、仮目的語it を受ける、真の目的語です。

４、It is a good idea ☆that you study French now.
that節は、仮主語it を受ける、真主語です。



２、withの意味・用法
問題文が違っているようですので、正しいものを見つけてきました。
He talks instead of chewing, laughs with his mouth open, delivers a passionate thought through a mouthful of egg salad,

この説明はすでに出ているとおりです。
付帯状況を表す場合は、with＋目的語＋形容詞［分詞、前置詞句］という構文をとり、～が[を] ... したままで、... しながら、などといった意味になります。

この「that」は、受験生お馴染みの「強調構文のthat」ですね。学校で先生が得意げに教えてくれますよね。「It is 」と「that」を除いても英文の意味は変わらないというのが特徴であるからよく覚えておくようにとね。

「２」は付帯状況ではないからですよ。それだけのことです。

は It is と that を略して
At these times, I realize he is indeed a professor,not an uncle.
としても意味が通じます。
It was because she was ill ☆that she didn't come to the party.
も It was と that を略して
Because she was ill, she didn't come to the party.
としても意味が通じます。
素人ですので正確なことはわかりませんが、これらの元の文は一種の強調構文ではないかと思います。その点で共通するので、正解が２になるのではないでしょうか。

（with について）
４は付帯状況ですが、２は原因・理由ではないでしょうか。
