「もちろん！」について。教えて下さい。

先日、期末考査の○付けをしたのですが。
「ｏｆ　ｃｏｕｒｓｅ．」と答えるところを「ｏｆｆ　ｃｏｕｒｓｅ．」と書いている生徒がいました。「ｆ」を余分に足してしまったのだろうと思いその生徒に聞いてみると・・・「新聞の＜英会話＞の記事にはこう書いてあった。」と言うのです。
他の先生に聞いても、「ｏｆ　ｃｏｕｒｓｅ．」なんです。
果たして「ｏｆｆ　ｃｏｕｒｓｅ．」でも「もちろん」の意味として使えるのか。知っている方がいたら教えて下さい。

「certonly」が適切ではないでしょうか。

スペルあってるかな？

辞書を調べてもoff course　には当然ながら「もちろん」の意味は出てきませんね。

おそらく、of course のof の部分の発音が弱まって「オフ」となる場合もあるようですので、そこからスペルも引っ張られて間違えて書かれた、校正ミスの記事だったのではないでしょうか。

私もありとあらゆるものを駆使して調べたのですが、やはり「もちろん」の意味はなく・・・。
校正ミスの可能性も多いに有りますね。

off courseは小田さんのオフコースですね(OFF COURSE)。

生徒の見間違いか記事の間違いだと思います。
of course　です。
先生しっかりしてください。全角で英文書いてるし（笑）

新聞に書いてあったとしても、意味違いのことを勘違いして覚えているのではないでしょうか

もちろん＝of course
off courseだと、「ちょっと外れますが」っぽいニュアンスで使うと思いますが

今日ＡＬＴの先生に聞いてみたところ、donna13さんの回答と同じようなことを言っていました。
ボートを例に、コースが外れてしまった時なんかに使うんだと説明してくれました。

Love, faiths, and emotions, of course do not mean much now,
And are taken with a grain of salt -
While reality stays off course to lubricate nuts and bolts
Of our lives, to prevent screeching halt!!

多分ですが、

英字新聞の誤植かもしれませんね。
マシンでのスペルチェックはされていますが
どちらも存在する単語なので漏れてしまった。

もしくは、その生徒さんが、off courseと書かれていたのに
「もちろん」と訳してしまった。
なんとなく、それでも記事に違和感を感じなかったのでは
ないでしょうか？
