火曜日に就任したバラク・オバマ大統領は、今までの代々のアメリカ人を驚かすような大家族に囲まれ、未来の代々のアメリカ人のためにファースト・ファミリーの肖像を描き変えた。

（２）奴隷制度から、奴隷が建てたホワイトハウスに入るまで、いわばアフリカからの旅の最後の一歩をおえるべく集まった人々は、オバマの回顧録からそっくりそのまま抜け出て来たかのように見えた、　ーー　もはや回りに溶け込めるかどうか案じている若者の、浮立った親戚ではなく、新しい大統領の、変化への約束、そのものであった。
