……という茶番(farce)

語の結びつきが正しいのかわかりませんので、ネイティヴの感覚で不自然に感じないかを教えてください。

「くだらない出来事」「茶番劇（比喩的な意味で）」を表す"farce"ですが、「～という茶番」という時に後ろにthat節を繋げることはできますか？

ex. the farce that a university student lets study aside and chases around looking for a job

なんだか違和感があります。

前後が分からないので、お答えになるかどうか分かりませんが、わたしだったらこんな風に処理します。

Today, university students often put their studies aside and are busy with their part-time jobs. They don't seem to know the name of the game. It's an utter farce.
