Get on a train and it is likely that several people around you will be wearing earphones. There they are in the same space, but not talking or paying attention to one another. Though listening to a personal tape player this way has some virtue in that you don't usually disturb others, it allows almost no human contact.

電車に乗るとイヤフォンをしている人間がかなり目に付く。

同じ空間に居ながら、お互いまるでそ知らぬ振りだ。
各々音楽に耽るこの方法が、他人に迷惑をかけない一種の美徳だろうか。
そのため一切、人と関わらなくて済む。
