「温度」には、「物体の温かさや冷たさを示す尺度」という意味があります。

一方で、「気温」には、「大気の温度」という意味があります。

このことからもわかるように、「気温」は「温度」に含まれている言葉になります。

「大気の温度」は「気温」で、「体の温度」は「体温」になり、「海の温度」は「海水温」になります。

このように、「気温」は「温度」の中に含まれていて、「大気の温度」のみについて説明したいとき、「気温」とい言葉を使うといいでしょう。

気温 is atmospheric temperature

or air temperature.
温度 is a general term
and it means simply temperature.
You can use it with other words,
like body temperature/体温,
water temperature/水温, etc.
