埋まる

Question

「恐竜の化石が埋まっていたのが見つかった。」はどのように訳せばいいのでしょうか。
例えば、「タイムカプセルが埋められていたのが見つかった。」
なら
It was found that a time capsule was buried.
でいいと思うのですが、
It was found that the fossil of the dinosaur was buried.
にすると、「恐竜の化石が埋められていたのが見つかった。」という感じがします。
「埋められていた」と「埋まっていた」とはちょっと感じが違うと思います。
「埋められていた」は誰かが埋めた感じがするが、「埋まっていた」は自然に埋まった感じがします。
このような違いは、どのように訳し分ければいいのでしょうか。

"found + 状態" の形で、その「状態」で見つかったことが表せます。
The missing woman was found dead in the woods.
The stolen car was found abandoned at a nearby convenience store.

同様に、埋められていた状態で見つかった場合は、"found buried" を使えばいいです。
Dinosaur fossils have been found buried for the first time in the region.
A time capsule was found buried in our school yard.
などなど。

「埋める」「埋まる」を無理に英語に訳そうとするからうまくいかないのだと思います。

私ならば：I found the fossil of the dinasaur lie in the ground.
という具合になりますかね。
直訳すると「恐竜の化石が地面の中にあるのを見つけた。」となります。
一方takechan5757さんがおっしゃるように「bury」は他動詞的な印象を受けますね。

一番多く使われている表現は次のように簡単です。

The dinosaur fossil was found in sedimentary rock.
                             ～ in volcanic bubble.
                             ～ in Shahara desert.
上記のようにただ～inをつけるだけです。

もし質問者さんのように表現するなら

It was found that the dinosaur fossil in～
とすればよいとおもいます。

埋めるという表現を残しておきたい場合、
buryには、隙間無く埋めるというイメージがなく、墓地に埋めるとか、地表に近い部分の下に埋めるとか、おいて置くという感じがしており、化石のような場合での隙間無くしっかりと埋まっているというイメージは、embedで表現できるようです。
It was found that the fossil of the dinosaur was embedded (in the rock, earth, ground, etc). または、
The fossil of the dinosaur was found embedded (in the rock, earth, ground, etc).
