So, as I feel my strength returning in this house among the mountains—a house that itself holds the truths behind many illusions, I am driven to explain myself to you, Headmaster, because you stand at the top of that queer school world in which I seem to have cut such a meagre figure. This is a house ～

This 自体は特定のものでも、ただ house というものである、
となるように、

in this house と、this house は特定の家ですが、
その言い換えとして、

この家、つまり、さまざまな幻想の裏に真実を持っているような家。

この house は this house 自体のことを言っているわけではなく、

This house is a house that ...
（house を繰り返すことはしませんが、考え方として）
