where =「前置詞 + which」が入ったパッケージ

以下の例を見てください。

the town [in which] he lives
= the town where he lives

[in which]のinはどこから来た？

フレーズ「live in」のinがwhichの前に出されたから。

一方、visitは？

visit in? visit to?

「visit」はinやtoなどの「前置詞」は要りません。

よって、whereにはなりません。

The town which(that) he had visited

visited there の there が関係副詞whereに化けるので、 where の方が良いはずです。
