「海水はこれら地表の裂け目を通って地殻の中に入り込み、それから勢いよくその裂け目から噴出してくる。」ではいかがでしょう。

海水はこれらの割れ目（※）を通って地殻中にしみこんでいき，そして再び上昇して噴出してくる。

※たぶん「断層」のつもりでしょう。前の文を見てください。
