so intimate is the relation between a language and the people who speak it that the two can scarcely be thought of apart.
A language lives only so long as there are people who speak it and use it as native tongue, and its greatness is only that given to it by these people.

最後の only を忘れていました。

only that given ～だから、
言語の偉大さは、このような母語として話し使う人々によってその言語に与えられる、
偉大さ、のみ、である→に他ならない

最初は倒置で so intimate that ～

speak it, use it と同じで、its greatness も、it もともに it は a language です。

ある言語は以下である限りにおいてのみ、生き長らえる。
それ（その言語）を母語として話し使う人がいる限りにおいて。

ここで切れて、and 以下は so long as 節に含まれません。

そして、その（言語の）偉大さは～と主語になって、
is that、この that は that of ～などでおなじみ。
the greatness のことです。

その偉大さは、given 以下のそれ（偉大さ）である。

このような話し使う人々によってその言語に与えられる、
（そういう）偉大さである。
