They や、あとの they accept の they も readers でしょう。

from の後は from A to B となっていて、
from evidence that they accept
to the claim (that) you draw from it （it は evidence です）

読者が受け入れた証拠から、あなた（research report の筆者）
がその証拠をもとに導き出した主張へ

evidence の後は同格の that も来ますが、
accept の後が欠けているので、目的格の関係代名詞。
claim の後も同様の構造ですが、関係代名詞が省略されています。

これが reasoning にかかります。
～から～への理論づけ。
