仮定法過去で、If it were not for A, のかわりにIf there were not A,とも言えそうですが？そういう使い方はないのでしょうか？

If it were not for 〜というのは it is C という表現とは違います。

for があり、仮定法でのみ用いられ、
全体として「〜がなかったら」という「ある、ない」の「ない」の意味が出るように出来ています。
ある文法書にその成り立ちが書いていましたが、
理解できないものでした。

だから、普通に考えると
if there were 〜としても同じような意味になるはずです。

そもそも "it is" と "there is" の意味が違うので「かわりに」することは無理だと思います。もし似たような意味を持つ文章があったとしたら多分たまたまそうなっているだけかと…

It is not a house.
　家ではありません。

There is no house.
　家がありません。

少しミスをしました。
お尋ねは、If it were not for A, のかわりにIf there were not A, が可能か？ということでした。
それなのに、If there were / was no A は可能と答えてしまいました。
また、仮定法の文なのに、述語動詞をcanにする過ちをしてしまいました。
まとめて、以下に示します。
If it were not for A　＝　
If there were / was no A　＝
If there were / was not any A です。
もし水がなかったら、どんな生物も生存できない。
＝ If it were not for water, no living thing could exist.
= If there were / was no water, no living thing could exist.
= If there were / was not any water, no living thing could exist.（not any の形です）
was と were に関して補足すれば、正統的な仮定法としては、後ろの
名詞が単数でも were の複数形を使うべきでしょう。

あります。

If there were / was no A, ~ ~ ~ = If it were not for A, ~ ~ ~ と考えて良いようです。
If it were not for water, no living thing can exist. =
If there were / was no water, no living thing can exist.
