わからない英文があります。

『ハリー・ポッターと賢者の石』を読んでいて以下の英文に出くわしました。

“It’s only dying a bit later than I would have done, because I’m never going over to the Dark Side! I’m going through that trapdoor tonight and nothing you two say is going to stop me! Voldemort killed my parents, remember?”

わからないのは、“It’s only dying a bit later I would have done”の部分です（とくに“I would have done”の意味が取れません）。前の部分で「僕がこよい賢者の石を手に入れられなければ、あとは家でヴォルデモートに殺されるのを待つだけだ」みたいなことを言っています。

すでに他の方々もおっしゃっているように、

上のような文があるとき、done が具体的に何を指しているのかを考えるときは、done の直前にある動詞（または動詞の変化形）を指していると思えばいいのです。ここでは done の直前にある動詞は dying なので、単純に
I would have done (= I would have died)
だと考えればいいのです。それは

(1) She lasted longer than I did (= than I lasted).
(2) I live better in Thailand than I did in the U.S. (= than I lived in the U.S.).

などの場合と同じです。

なお、would have [過去分詞] の形になっているのは、「もし仮にこれこれこのようにした場合には」という言葉が言外にあるからこそ仮定法過去みたいな形になっているのです。

（賢者の石に辿り着く前に捕まってしまったら、退学処分になってダーズリー家に戻らなければならなくなるかもしれないが）そうなっても死ぬのがほんの少し遅れるだけだ

than I would have done (=died)
（もし賢者の石を探しに行かず、退学にもならず、そのままホグワーツにいて、ヴォルデモートがホグワーツをぺちゃんこにしに来た時に）僕が死ぬことになっていただろうことと比べて

という意味だと思います。

＊この「I would have done」は、「I would have waited for Voldemort to find me there if I had got caught before I could get to the Stone」(石に辿り着く前に捕まっていたら、そこでヴォルデモートが私を見つけるのを待っていたかもしれない。つまり、私がヴォルデモートに殺されていただろう。)ということだと思います。非現実な過去の妄想を抱いたのでしょう。

ここだけなら簡単ですよね、「死ぬのがちょっと遅れるだけ」

>I would have done
この英文は、現在から見た未来のある点についての推測をあらわしています。「いついつまでには〜していることになるだろう」といった方がわかりやすいでしょうか？

つまり、全体としては「（自分が思っていたよりも）死ぬのがちょっと遅れるだけだ」という意味になります。
