再び構文把握の問題です

教えてください。本当にすみませんが、自分なりに頑張っても分からないので再投稿させていただきました。先ほどと違う文章です。

強調構文の考え方です。It is～thatと言う文章でこれらを省略しても文章が成り立っているのなら強調構文である。と書いてありました。
It is a fact that he wants to know.→a fact he wants to know→He wants to know a fact.となり、たとえば、It is a fact that he has won the game.は同じようにやるとa factの役割が不明になり、前とは違って成り立たない。よってこれは強調構文ではない。ここまでは理解できます。
しかしこの考え方が次の文章では分かりません。この文章ではどうやって上のような考え方を当てはめればいいのでしょうか。
It ewasn't until mysuitcases and I were piled into a little Fait and the man in dark glasses was telephoning to his mamma that he would be late for supper, that the voice of my mamma could be heard above my desperation.
この文章は「It ewasn't until」と「that the voice of 」の「that」が呼応してます。

It was ～ that …：「…なのは～だった」

これを応用した表現で、
It was not until ～that …：「…なのは～までではなかった」→「～してはじめて…した」

より単純化して、
It was not until 6 o'clock that he appeared.
「彼が現れたのは６時までではなかった」→「彼が現れたのは６時になってからだった」
と比較してみるとどうでしょう。

ちなみに、お節介かもしれませんが、回答に対して何かreturnはないのでしょうか。回答者さん達が減っていっちゃうかもよ。

前回のご質問では、何度もドジリまして失礼しました。

Google English で検索して、原文が Mary Taylor Simeti によるエッセイ "On Persephone's Island" であることが分かりました。途中、一部省略されているようです。

筆者（女性）がイタリアのフローレンスに住む母親と別れて、一人でシシリー島へ滞在にでかける時の不安な旅の経験を書いていうようですね。

確かに強調構文が使われていますが、より高度なものとなっています。
It is not until ～ that ・・・
「・・・するのは～までではない」→「～してやっと（初めて）・・・する」の意味になります。ですが、普通これは熟語として捕らえます。辞書で until を引いて確かめられるといいと思います。この文では、not until ～の部分が大変長いために、that の前にカンマがついており、切れ目が分かり易くなるように工夫されています。

・Fiat はイタリア製の車ですね。
・above one's desperation の表現は私は知りませんでした。ネット検索でもほとんど見つからず、辞書にも載っていませんでした。意味は内容の展開からして、「私が必死になっている上の方から」「絶望の淵の上から」の感じでしょうか。

全体の意味は：

「黒い眼鏡をかけた男が私とスーツケースをちっちゃなフィアットに押し込んで、電話で母親に夕食には間に合わないと話しているのを聞いた時、初めて自分の母親の声が絶望の淵の上から聞こえてきました」

の感じでしょうか。were piled into と受け身になっていますが、日本語的に訳してみました。

強調構文であることにはかわりありませんが、否定文なので、やや難しいのだと思います。

やさしい例文から理解するのがよいでしょう。 not の位置が変化します。not こそが強調したい点なので、先頭に出るのです。質問者さん風に整理してみます。

It is not a fact that he wants to know.
→ not a fact he wants to know
→ He doesn't want to know a fact.

It wasn't until I got home that I realized I'd lost my wallet.
→ not until I got home I realized I'd lost my wallet.
→ I didn't realize I'd lost my wallet until I got home.

until を辞書でひけば、似たような用例があるはずです。

It wasn't until my suitcases and I were piled into a little Fiat and parked by a bar where the man in dark glasses was telephoning to his mamma that he would be late for supper, that the voice of my mamma could be heard above my desperation.

→ The voice of my mamma couldn't be heard until my suitcases and I were piled into a little Fiat and parked by a bar where the man in dark glasses was telephoning to his mamma that he would be late for supper.

意訳 ： なんだかやばい事態になってきて、はじめてママがいってたことを思い出した。

( above my desperation ［絶望のなかで、パニクりながら］ は、until 以下の内容をさすので、いいかえた文にはうまく入りません)
