たしか大学教授である主人を主人が亡くなった後も
駅頭で帰りを待ち続けた秋田犬ですよね。
その程度なら、
He is a Japanese dog (Akita-inu) waited for
his master's return at the station,
even after his master's death for several years.
Films were taken when he (the dog) is still alive,
and after his death.

The subject of this film is a poor dog's great loyalty to his master. This film touched many
people's heart and this dog's statue was built.
This statue is loved by many people, who make
often an appointment with someone in front of this statue.

ああ、そうそう、No.2 の方、いいですねぇ。

それで思い出した。

The first statue was made while he waited
for his master. But it was removed to be melt
for World War II.
After war, new statue was built here, recently
the statue turned to face the station exit,
still, as if he would wait for his master...
Hachi, the dog, is stuffed and now at the National
Science Museum, Ueno, Tokyo.

追加情報

国立科学博物館の剥製は、みどり館閉鎖のため、
新館増築オープンまでは、倉庫入りしているそうです。
見られまへん。
回答の補足としては、生きているうちにニュース映画が
作られるほどの人気になって、銅像まで作られたのです。
死んでからの話では、ありません。
