いろいろ意見があるので、調べてみました。

文法的には
PeopleもThe Canadians 複数なのでhatesのｓ入りません。

ニュアンスが違います。文法的にはどちらでもよいようです。
Canadian people hate winter season.
The Canadians hate winter season.

上は、カナダの人の大部分は
下は、カナダの人は例外なく

従って、上の文が適切です。

Japanese people　と　　The Japanese(単複両形）も上記と同じです。

但し、
The Canadian　はカナダロッキーを走る鉄道を
The Canadians は映画名を指すそうで
Canadian peopleを使うのが普通のようです。

最も簡単に表せば、

The Canadians hate winter.
The Japanese hate winter.

the Canadian people, the Canadians
及び
the Japanese people, the Japanese
どちらでもOK。また、数えられるので動詞は単数でなく、複数扱い。

hates → hate
winter season → the winter seasonもしくはwinterのみで。


the+形容詞で「～の人々」と言う名詞を表す例。
the rich, the poor：金持ち、貧乏人
the old, the young：年寄り、若者
the dead：死者、the brave：勇者、the sick：病人　　など。

そして、上記のようにthe+国名形容詞も「～国の人々」(=~people)と同じく表せます。
the Japanese, the Chinese, the Canadians, the Americans, the British
こうした単語の使い方では、上記のような「～国の国民性は○○…」等を表す場合の文が多いので、文章に出て来た際には前後をきちんと読んで意味を取るようにすることです。

無冠詞の名詞に、定冠詞つけたら、違うものになっちゃう。

winter season -->> the winter season

The Canadians とか The Japaneseとすると、「そのカナダ人たち」とか「その日本人」などの意味にもなるので安易には使えません。
